SoB: through a proxy?

Is there a way I can connect to sb.pns.net:1717 though my proxy and if not is there a program for winxp that will allow me to route all incoming requests for 192.168.0.1:1717 to sb.pns.net:1717
 
There are currently no proxy programs for the Seventeen or Bust project and client. With the next version of the client, these may become possible, but the current client design does not make these a realistic option.

Oops looks like that may be info from the previous client and may not apply anymore but probably does.

Talk to me some time. I am a bit confused as to what your problem is and if its what I think it is I have a solution....
 
yeah.. i've tried the gateway.. its sad.. im a network admin and i couldnt get my two home xp pro machines to talk via gateway.. my t1 speed dsl line is coming next month and i have my router ordered.. i just installed windows server 2003 on this box so i will try again later tonight..
 
Remy: I would however I don't have msn on this computer and trillian is forcing me to upgrade to 2.0 and its a 5mb download which is too much to deal with tonight 😉 i'll grab it at work in the morning
 
You need to port map. If your proxy doesn't have that ability, you need to get one that does. I believe the AnalogX proxy has an add on program so that you can port map your proxy's port 1717 to sb.pns.net:1717.

www.ipcop.org if you got a p1 100 with 16megs ram you would have a pretty decent router right there, unless that router you ordered is a cisco, then theres no cometition i suppose 🙂

I just restarted SoB after a few months absence, and I was trying to get my Linux box to talk through ICS on my XP machine. It used to work, but now it doesn't. Changes at the server, maybe?

Anyway, now that I notice SoB can be redirected to another server, I think I might try my hand at a caching proxy. Not that it could cache much, but caching outgoing blocks would be nice for dial-up users like me. And if you don't mind hitting a download button a day before your SoB client runs out, I think it could cache one WU, too. 🙂

(don't get your hopes up ... it's all theoretical ... I need to see the transmission format ...etc.)
 
If you could make it work, I'm sure there'd be a tonne of people who could benefit from it (myself included!) The only problem is working around the 10 day text expiration limit 🙁
 
Update: I've succeeded in catching and caching intermediate blocks sent from the client, as well as in sending them on to the server. Once I'm sure the proxy won't mangle a final result :Q, I may see about putting it online.

Oh, and I've set it up to change a user's team to Anandtech, too. 😀
