I was looking all around SoB's site, and I thought this looked awfully interesting.

Check out the major drop in production! Unforunate, SoB was really gathering alot of support.

It looked like it peaked at about 475M, then it dropped to about 300M cause of this bug.

About a 175M cEM/sec drop (about 35%)! Thats more than the top 4 Teams daily production (based on 11/4/03 stats)... combined! Which Includes Team Anandtech and Team PrimeRib...

This can't be good for the project at all. I left D2OL because of client problems.... And now D2OL is fixed.....

Yep...the bug is not good for the project overall.

However, we must remember that within about 3 days of the bug occuring there was an updated client out to stop the client crashing. Granted it might not be as good as a full fix (as it has just disabled SSE2 on P4s/Opterons) but it is better than having clients which crash all the time.

I for one am happy to be a part of a project that has the developers ready to put out a fix within a couple of days, even if it is just a "stop-gap" to a full fix 🙂

Agree, 100%. Imagine if it was Microsoft, it would have been weeks/months. 😛 :Q
