SoB Performance Race

I can't get through to the Seventeen or Bust site so I can't update the race this morning. I'll try again later in the day.

My output was rather low yesterday for strange reasons, I am not sure why, it usually runs at 240k+, instead last night, and this morning, it was running at 180k🙁

I am debating if I should move my mainrig back to SETI, a 2.4ghz athlon should not only do 180k cEM/sec... I can assimilate 2 slower CPUs to produce that much...:disgust:

i checked some log files, i think it stopped about 4 or 5 am today

last time is was only out about 3-4 hours if i remember correctly, maybe it will get fixed as soon as the right guy wakes up

It appears everyone has gotten tougher work to do creating an apparent slowdown according to info in this thread.

Thanks Chipster 🙂

For those who feel that their client is running REALLY slow, did you leave it open all the time while the server wasn't getting connections? The client works out the cEMs/sec given the amount of work done in the time that the client has been open. If you left the client open, then it was doing 0 work over x time, so the rate will go down.

If you close the client, and restart it, then you will see the correct cEMs/sec.

The same theory also applies if you have noticed that it appears to be faster just after you have reset 🙂

Hi, and welcome to the forums 🙂

Yes, i believe that the rate (cEMs/sec) on the web site is also worked out via the block completion. Each time the client finishes a block of work, it connects to the server, and tells the server how much work it's done. This value is divided by the number of seconds in a day (60x60x24) to get your overall rate in cEMs/sec.

This is the same method that is done by the stats script that provides our daily stats here, as well as the inter-team race we have going on at the moment 🙂

Well I've set my computers to work for team anandtech.
Looks like a close competition as far as daily work rate goes.

Anyone else notice a significant performance drop while the client is running?
My higher-performance systems don't see any lag but a p4 1.6 machine isn't smooth.

I've noticed a 15K/sec drop in speed on my laptop (P3 550 going from 60K to 45K). I haven't checked any of my other systems.
