We have been contacted by TeamTNT, in regards to having an Inter-Team race with them. I would like input from you guys as to any suggestions on race length etc, and any other things you may like to see in the race

The stats for the race will be provided in with this stats update, unless of course someone else wants to sort out the organisation and stats, and post them when they wish I'm easy on what we do

We were thinking the month of Feb.

You guys currently have us by almost 40% the pace, but we would shift power over to SoB from other projects. I think it would be pretty close rate wise.

Meanwhile, I got GREAT NEWS!

I got the Okay from both lab teachers to install SoB.

Lab 1- My BST Lab, 27 566mhz Celerons. = 15.282ghz

Though, In my lab, I cannot install it until Late Feburary, as he doesn't have the time for me to come in before and after school, hes apart of some testing prep class. Though, I will install it on computers not used during class time. But a full assimilation of the lab won't begin until Late Feburary, as thats when the testing beings. I believe I would need something more than my student access to install this though.

Lab 2 - My friends lab, Not sure how many computers or how fast they are, though we'll check tomorrow. He told me they are pentium 3's, and thats about it. I am assuming 20-30 computers. Estimated 600mhz, 25 computers. 15ghz.

My friend got the okay from this teacher, as a matter of fact, he installed several clients on these. Though, one problem. The computer restores itself to its "original state" after a restart, meaning anything installed, is now deleted. We would need something higher than our student access in order to get these clients installed. We could install them everyday, but thats not my idea of fun.

So basically, I am assuming I have near 30ghz from these labs available to me. They will be running from 7:30am-2:30pm, which is 7 hours a day. Any idea how many cEMs/sec 30ghz would put out?

Thats great! We now have another powerhouse.

That is, if all goes well. Its not 100% confirmed I can actually get these up and running. I am still unsure if I can get access into the computers to install them w/o deletion upon a reboot, and restored back to its orginal state. So far, i just got the "okay" from the teachers, and hopefully, I can get around the technical difficulties.

I think you will need admin rights, talk to the teachers, because you won't want to be reinstalling it every single day, that's just a waste of time

Good point, one i forgot

Make sure that you get full written permission to install/run this from whoever is in charge of the computers, to cover yourself more than anything. We do not want anything happening to you because of this, no DC app is worth that

Thanks guys , I'll go ahead and get my lab teacher to sign it. But I do not think we have a "lab tech department", if so, I've never heard of such things.

Tomorrow morning, my friend and I are going to his computer lab to start assimiliating. I am just trying to get around the technical difficulties, and get an admin password. The teacher should have it.

I really do hope this works out, and it doesn't end up in disappointment like last time.

Just a quick note, it will actually be detrimental to SoB if you have to re-install. A re-installation will require a new 'n' and the old 'n' won't be recycled for 10 days. You will never finish an exponent and will hold the project up.

Make sure you get the admin password and do it properly. With the speed and type of those cpu's, plus, the length of time per day they are on, it will probably take around a week per test.

yeah, it would get complicated, you would have to figure out how to save off the work everyday and re-install it so that you weren't always starting over/never actually finishing a series

Thanks for the tips guys. Obviously I can get around the boot issue. Something has to be installed on there . But I gotta get access, and the teacher should have it. If not, well, I am screwed. I have not confirmed this "restore back to original state" problem, as I have not seen these computers yet. Though I am going to get to the lab early in the morning, and see what I can do.
