Soap Operas are horrible acting.

You are absolutely right, and I don't know. I guess middle aged and older women are so glad that there is something they can watch to pass the time until Oprah comes on, they don't complain. But the acting in soaps is like the acting in wrestling...so bad and cheesy that it's laughable.

Blasphemy! The over done characters are exactly why soaps are so popular. To put it in perspective, think about some well known space operas. Bad acting but, much beloved.

I don't think it's that bad.

Yeah, the acting is alright. The story lines on the other hand....

Water contains hydrogen.

Yeah, you probably would be confused if you felt it necessary to make a thread about things people have known for over a decade...

Actually this is the first soap opera I've ever seen.

I think they stay alive because there's a decent-size audience of old women and stay at home moms that watch them. Don't know how they can even bear it, seeing as the story is exactly the same day after day...

It's all about the plot, especially the twists. Same stuff over and over again though, just with different people. I was forced to sit through a whole day of jury duty a couple weeks ago with the soap opera channel on :Q

What do you expect when they have an episode on every week day, and the actors are usually reading their lines from a teleprompter?
