So you think your LCD is 16ms? Think Again.

Good article from toms highlighting "published" response time VS. real.
http://graphics.tomshardware.c...ay/20040923/index.html
This graph partly explains the success of the Hydis 20 ms panel. Its latency does reach 28 ms in the worst cases, but certain faster panels (some 16 ms models, for example) go well beyond these values, even though they do reach 16 ms at peaks. That's why the Hydis panels are known for being very responsive. They deviate less from their published specifications than their competitors do.

CRT's...response that's about 400 times faster than that of an average TFT.

Check out this graph of the new so called 8ms BenQ exceeding 22msmost of the time

I personally think after using both Samsung 213T and Dell FP the samsung is faster response dispite it 25ms rating. And IQ can't be compared. Samsung destroys all comers.

i totally agree with you on that. its no wonder why gamepc states that the samsung 243T performs better hten many 16ms panels.

The question is, how does the average enthusiast test his panel?

Im sure there will be differences accross 1 product line and the difference between 1 person loving a panel and 1 hating it might just be the variance in a panels manufacture, handling or usage.

Id like to test my panel. Looks top quality to me but knowing the specifics or the truth would be cool.

usually in the specs, they say typical next to the response times.

Either way, as much as gamers, and their girlfriends want it, nothing beats a really good CRT.

Yes, ISO should adopt something akin to this to replace the current useless "response time" metric.

This thread is very useful since at the corner of my screen blue is being represented as purple :(. I think my monitor is dying. Thank you OP but now can you create a post on how to make money so that I might purchase one.

My friends 25ms Samsung has tons of ghosting compared to my 16ms ... forgot the maker (19" same screen as the 2100fp). So, even if the number is not correct, it's all relative.

The word "typical" means majority of the time. Not 1% of the time as in the 8ms example and the typical above 20ms.

Import-export from china. They just loosened restrictions were almost anyone can get a licence, before you had to have 5million in the bank, and very powerful communist freinds to get a licence.

Well you asked.;)
