Thinking of moving my cable modem next to my tv.... Think i'll run into any problems if i split the signal from the wall, one going into my modem, the other into my HDTV DVR?

Of course, using a 1000mhz splitter.

I haven't had any problems.

Edit: One line is going to the cable modem and one to my HDTV tuner in my computer

as long as you don't split an already split signal, you shouldn't need to worry.

It is not the optimal but I have no choice but do that in the room my modem is located. It has been this way for over 4 years and I have hit speeds of up to 950 kb/s sustained on download so it can't be too bad.

I have a splitter to my TV and VOIP on the same cable that my cable modem is on.

Mine is split 2 times. I have no latency or packet loss problems. (I'm on a 4mbit/500kbit connection, and I achieve those speeds all the time)

Though I have those fancy splitters that route MOST of the signal to one place, and very little off to the branches ...

get that motorola cable modem booster, then split after that. You should be ok.

my tv and comp share the same line and I could get on the internet, but cable tv was fuzzy. after the booster, picture is clear! so give it a try. But don't just any kind of booster make sure it's broadband compatible.

Mine is split multiple times and it's fine. Then again I've never had it any other way so it might be much faster if it wasn't split.

Currently I have it split between the TV and my ATI All-in-Wonder card.

THe tap splitter that separates out the cable modem signal makes channels 2-6 staticy. Any recommendations where to get a better one?

If you have to split the line 2 times, the second split should not be on the cable modem's side. Use 1000mhz splitters.

I have intermittent problems connecting when I spit my signal line. I have an ATI AIW but can't feed cable signal because of this. Since I value my internet connection more than TV, I figure why waste time.

Splitting signal with Cable if fine but splitting Sat TV is a different story.

It's all a matter of signal strength. You can split a really strong signal several times and get away with it. If you've got a weak signal to begin with even a single split could degrade the quality to where you won't get synch. Split it and give it a shot. If it doesn't work you'll know right away.

this is splitting the cable wire and not ethernet right? im assuming so. That will work. Splitting the ethernet requires a router for cable (while any hub/switch will work for dsl). im sure you all know this...

I ran a new line to the home office where my modem is. I split it there. One to my TV card, one to my modem. Works fine.

1 line splits to 2, with one to tv, the other to another splitter for the MCE tuner cards.
