So you shouldn't walk around on carpet with computer parts?

Because of static shock? I just wanted to clarify since that's what my brother said. Also is the mechbgon's guide to building a comp still good and reliable or is there a better comp building guide?

Static discharge to the point that you can see the spark is upwards of 50,000 volts. No amps, but lots of volts. And that much voltage can definitely mess up computer components if discharged through them. Also, keep in mind that "static bags" for computer parts are conductive, not insulative.

And yes, mechbgons guide is still good and reliable. 🙂

EDIT: Being that walking across carpet can create static electricity, I wouldn't walk across carpet holding the components by the traces, or with them on top of static bags... Carrying them in their box is fine though.
