So you should always try out a gun before you buy, right?

I'm looking at the Walther PPS. I really like the feel of the P22 because it fits my small hands like a glove with the small narrow grip, and I heard that the dimensions of the PPS and P22 are very similar. I'd like to try at the PPS, but it doesn't seem to be available anywhere close to me. In this situation, what do you guys do? Do gun shops or ranges transfer rental guns between themselves kinda like libraries do with books?

PPK: Good feel but the trigger pull was pretty tough for me.
Springfield XD Service Model 4": Grip and gun fat and blocky for me.
1911: Good grip, too big.
Glock G26: ok, still too blocky
PPS: from the reviews, very slim, easy to carry, and accurate.

trigger pull can be modified. find a frame that you like... that's the most important part.

also, you can look for a smaller frame 1911 if the full size frame is too big for you.

I'm now waiting for the day he hunts you guys (generally speaking of course) for making fun of him on the net... lol.

I'm not sure why you want a gun, but if it's for concealed carry or general plinking, maybe a Kel-Tec P32? It's underpowered, but on the plus side, it's tiny and especially carried for conceal carry so it actually has no edges at all, every edge is smoothed.

It's also quite cheap, perfect for a starter to see if you like guns in the first place.

If you feel the need for a higher caliber, the Kel Tec follows much of the same design wgile being 9mm para.

Nationwide, under the Tiny Triggers for Tots program, of course.

No child left unarmed!

Most good ranges should have some rentals. Particularly if they are tied in to a local dealer. So they should be able to rent you what you are looking for.

That thought briefly crossed my mind, generally speaking of course!

You should seek counseling... You're going to buy this and then pull it out one night and kill yourself.

Or try to take your bunny hostage after a failed stick-up at a florist.

The only real ranges + gunshops around here don't carry the PPS though. And I doubt they would order one in just so that I can try it out, or would they?

I would try a Sig 220 or any Sig with single row magazine, very small grips in breath. The Sig Mosquito is also small.

this kind of thinking is why we need regulations.

seriously....

I'm not sure why you have those blood-red, twitchy eyes and are salivating from your jowls, but here--take this gun!"

yeah, embellished a bit, but you get the idea.

It depends on what you want to do with it. Considering the cost of ammo, you may only be able to afford to play with a .22 at the range. But for home defense then consider something bigger, perhaps a .45. But it sounds like it's your first gun, so maybe a 9mm would be better because of less recoil, and ammo prices are less than .45 so you can afford to practice more. You do intend to practice right?

well, if you can afford it then look at either an HK P30, P2000, P2000SK. The adjustable grips are very comfortable and they're some of the best you can buy. Or maybe a subcompact Glock, or maybe a Sig P226.
Have you considered an AR15? 😀
