So you like Shoot 'em ups?

I'm having a shoot 'em ups renaisance, fueled almost entirely by the Wii VC. It started with the all time classic, 'R-Type' and since then it has escalated.

This week, I am mostly playing:

- R-Type - T GFX
- Super Star Soldier - T GFX
- Soldier Blade - T GFX
- Nanostray - DS

I picked up Nanostray for dirt cheap and I must say it's a satisfying, if not a little short, game. The graphics and sound are really something, the 3D element really works and does not detract from the traditional gameplay. However, as always with these games, the joy is in beating the levels with max points, skill and style. I can see myself coming back again and again to this title.

Long live Shmups!

I have the R-Type Collection (I think that is what it was called) on PlayStation, great port. Also have R-Type Final for PS2. Have tons of other shmups, like Ikaruga on DC and GC, Batsugun, Battle Garegga, and various others for SEGA Saturn. I have some good ones for Genesis/MegaDrive as well, like the ThunderForce games, Gaiares, and many more.

I used to play R-Type all the time at a local ice cream parlor. I love that game.

One of the best shooter's I've ever played was on PSX and is called G-Darius.

Seriously if you have not played that game, check it out.
