Sure you lose your job but what about all other assests and Bills? (ie.Property if Morgage is due, Child Support if any, CC Bills if any?)
Does the child get hurt cause you can't make payments and what about anything else that is kept floating cause you were free?

I know that Prisoners can't vote and have no rights so is everything taken away and sold out...if so what about any future obligations that may be there?

I would assume your family takes care of it, or you could hire someone, or if you cant do that, then tough sh!t, dont get thrown in prison.

Some people don't have much of 1 Family and get thrown in Prison when they are Innocent ...

They don't take your property away, but if you can't pay your mortgage you better sell the house or the bank will foreclose.

You do still owe any money that you owed before...

K...i can go with that but some payments are based of off income so now in Prison you make Oh $8.00 ...would that be the new figure calculated off of ? 😕

What payments are based on your income? Child support? I have no idea what would happen with that.

all your stuff sits until your power gets shut off and foreclosure. you are not required to pay child support while doing time as you have no means to do so.
any property that was related to your crime involvement, like money cars houses from selling drugs is confiscated and sold at auction. you get nothing.

when you get out you can call the utilities and make restitution if you got any money and lay down a nice deposit to get power and or phone again.
but good luck because nobody wants to hire someone who just gets out of prison so you will be pretty broke, but you better come up with your monthly fee's for your parole officer or your getting shipped back.

so if you know your going you might as well sell everything now and bury the money in the woods.

i heard that you have to pay for everything in prison, sure they provide the basic soap and toothpaste, but they are the wrost quality that's almost unfit for human use.

The child is hurt already from a divorce and now that no other income is available the child will drop out of school, turn to drugs, and finally end up like dad

Yea - what have you been accused/convicted of?

LOL...it's not me...just curious as I may not be in Martha stewarts shoes but even she went to Prison so if she had obligations and was not successful what happens?

What payments are based on your income?
There's Child support, Alimony, Scholarship loans, some Life Insurance, and Annuities for example...

It is a fascinating question, but I have always assumed that if you were going in for >1 year you would dump all your stuff and RUN

Canada or prison?

Hmm....

IMHO, if Martha weren't successful (or popular) she wouldn't have ended up in prison. In any case, she would've prolly sought the help of her daughter to handle any financial obligations and such. 😀

...the others involved weren't popular and are still serving time while Martha went in on her own to get the matter over with, become more popular, while her verdict is still being appealed

I have heard that in Ontario if you go to jail and can't make your child support payments the government pays them.
