More guns are popping up at security checkpoints in airports all over the country.

"Over the course of the last the year we've seen a rather significant increase in the number of guns that we are finding," said Nico Melendez with the Transportation Security Administration.

Last year, screeners found 1,238 firearms averaging approximately four per day. That number has been steadily rising since 2007. "People just forgetting and not really doing their due diligence before they come to the airport," Melendez said.

The TSA does allow firearms to travel with passengers, however protocol must be followed. These weapons must be declared and stored in checked bags. Firearms must be in appropriate containers and unloaded.

Oh, my bad. You have to check them. :p

Should be pretty easy to remember you have a weapon on your hip before you show up in the security line.

Where's the post office cowboy?

"The TSA agent tried to grope me so I took a low crouch and swept clear my jacket to expose my holster."

Good gag for next time you're on an airplane and the fella next to you falls asleep:

Ask the stewardess to borrow her demonstration mask, put it on and shake him awake with an alarmed look on your face.
