Saw pictures on the news just now. There is this one town that the firefighters managed to partially save where they stopped the fire right at these people's backyards. They didn't save the entire town though. A lot of people have a pile of ash to go home to now. The mill they had there burned down too. It had a huge yard where they stacked all the wood, and all that you could see from the plane were big strips of ash.
 
Oh yeah, and my friend's dad flew in to Vancouver from Calgary just a few days ago and they had to fly over the fires. He said the entire cabin smelled like smoke. The pilot came on the intercom and said: "Yeah, I realize you are all smelling smoke right now, and I just want to let you know that it's not the plane that's on fire... It's all the forest fires. Unfortuneatly there's no way we can get up high enough to avoid the smoke either..."


Crazy.
