SO yah I stopped in gamestop on my lunch break and they had a wii kiosk up with excite truck in it. so I had to try it out.

my friend and I played 1 race split screen.

I don't know what that other guy in the other thread was talkin about, but this game is not that hard to control. we had the hang of it after like 5 seconds. sure sometimes you overcompensate when steering, cause thats what you usually have to do in video games. but the majority of the time, after I got the hang of it, it was pretty simple to control.

it is a lot like driving a real car when going 60 MPH on a highway. if you see a small turn on the highway, you barely turn your wheel. that's how it is in this game. you just barely turn your wrists.

the whole time my friend and i were just goofing off having a blast smiling away. this thing is just flat out fun. i was shocked at how damn responsive the controls were, I truly was. I expected to have SOME sort of delay, but not one second of delay. it was as responsive as the 360 wireless controller is.

the one letdown though definitely was the graphics. i dunno if its cause i have been playin GoW the past 2 days and then went to something like this, but the graphics didn't look much better than gamecube at all. granted I was playing split screen so I'm sure the graphics took a little dive, but still, I couldn't help but just say "meh" to the graphics.

that aside, it is going to be one hell of a fun system. it's definitely going to have a lot of sales. there were a couple other guys in there who also seemed to be sold on it.

I was pretty surprised at how small the controler was too. for some reason I thoght it would be a little bigger or heavier. the thing is LLIIGGHHTT.

I'm not going to camp out for a Wii, but if I see one for sale on the 19th, I'm definitely scoring one. way to go Nintendo!

My GC was fun as hell to play but I sold it pretty much after I spent Christmas playing my cousin's XBox. I used to love the GC type games but I just feel like I've moved onto a different genre/type of gaming.

i guess if you think driving a car with a steering wheel becomes annoying after a while, driving the cars in excite truck may become annoying after a while.

but after my 1 race i wanted to try more, but we had to go.

I can't wait. I am gonna get my preorder first thing that sunday:)

The one thing I am worried about is games like Ultimate Alliance. How am I supposed to use the motion controller with that? I hope they give you the option to also use the classic controller or gamecube controller with some games.

Cool, I keep forgetting to stop by the Gamestop by my apartment, maybe I will this evening. I played Wii Sports Bowling at Nintendo World Store, it was fun, but I really want to check out other games, like Excite Truck!

I dropped a GameStop yesterday to see if they had a kiosk (they didn't)...but man, the sales guy just would not SHUT UP. No wonder he's working at a GameStop.

I already have a preorder...no need to tell me how awesome the system is :p

I just played it at the local Gamestop as well. The controls were pretty damn responsive. I'd have to agree with the OP on the graphics though. Not a big step up from the GameCube, which is disapointing. I'm still going to get one though. Fun gameplay > graphics to me.

I don't think that the concern is with the "responsiveness" or the "difficulty" of using the wiimote, but rather whether it is a benefit over a standard controller. Furthermore is the benefit really just a first step in a new generation of gaming, a fad, or a truly well executed idea? Finally, is it so much fun that the substandard graphics are totally overwhelmed by the unique controller.

I already posted my whole thoughts in the other threads, but I don't think that this system will have the success with gamers that are more than just non- or casual gamers, with the exception of Zelda, which is a system seller in its own right. If you take that one game out of the equation, you may have a successful system just for the casual gamer, but for someone who may play games elsewhere, it is not enough in either the games, graphics, or controller.
