1994 Mistubishi Galant LS.........124,000 miles.

It has, within the last month, had:

Auto tranny replaced with a Mistu-factory-rebuilt unit.

New cam seals.

New water pump.

New timing and balance shaft belts.

New exhaust system.

New hoses and drive belts.

Fresh tune-up w/plugs, etc.

Interior is flawless.

Exterior has one spot of rust, approx. 2" in length, over passenger's side of windshield on roof....otherwise it's perfect.

Engine runs smooth, strong, no smoking or other problems.

Brand new tires.

Brakes redone about 3 months ago.



So, would you take the chance for $600?

Certainly. If all the repairs are true, its obviously worth more than you're paying.

i would pay $1500 for it...


but if the seller is offering such a low price, it is either
1) there's something wrong with the car
2) the seller doesn't realize its true value. (or in layman, dumb)

They're true.......my brother did all of the repairs personally. He's right now chasing down a rattle from the exhaust that was installed last week.

The car was brought to his shop three months and the owner said to "fix" the car. The major problem was the tranny. Shop orders a tranny from Mistubishi.....factory rebuilt with all updates.

They get about 2/3 done with the car and owner calls and says "Forget it". They tell him it's too late, $$$ has been invested......he drops off signed title and says "Good luck."

John gets car for $600 from the owner of the shop's chain (He likes my bro.....John works like a slave sometimes, but I guess that has its benefits.....the shop is eating a bunch of $$ in repair costs.) So John offers the car to me.............bro ows me some $$ for a new motherboard and cpu I put into his computer a month ago. My cash outlay will be about $250 or so.

John sent the title to me on consignment and it arrived yesterday........so I'm looking at it right now. Owner's signed it.....just have to put my name on it and go to DMV today. I can pick up the car on Sunday.....gotta drive to Alexandria, VA to do that, but such is life.

Last winter, a 1996 VW Golf with 86K on the clock is pulled to my bro's shop, seems the driver had punted the car into something on an ice day and hurt the right driver's side. Bent lower control arm, bent the half-shaft, dented the fender a little. Estimate was more than the kid could afford so John gets him to sell him the car for $1000.

John then repairs the car and tries to resell it....but really never spends any time cleaning it or anything. The original owner was not the tidiest of people and the interior almost needed a hosing out. It sat up there for 6 months with a $4K price on it, then $3500, then $3000....nothing. He offers it to me for $1500......break even for him.

I get it......it runs smooth, strong, decent little car, but a stick and my left knee bothers me with prolonged shifting/clutching.....old age. So, I drive it for 6 months and put it up on ebay........sells for $3600.........to a guy who lives within 15 miles of my brother's shop. Ironic.

If the car is what it says to be, I'd buy it. Of course, you should test drive it to make sure for yourself.

I wouldn't buy a Mitsubishi for any price, but if you have faith in the car, it's certainly had some substantial work done on it. if it doesn't last a while, I'd be a bit surprised!

it could go another 5 years or longer

I drove a 90' galant, and the thing ruled.

I would say these are close in reliability to a honda, toyotta, etc.

The only reason I don't have it anymore is because I got in an accident with it, and the insurrance company declared it 'totalled' so we received a good chunk of change for it instead :)

whao.... that whole "Golf" thing is really cool.... that's one cool brother you have (but I am a bit worry that he is the kind of guy that always be taken advantage of)


hehe, you particularly traded a computer for a car.... :)

anyway, why not ebay the Galant too???

good god, I'd be all over that. There's, what? $2000-3000 in new parts alone in that thing? Considering the condition of my current car, heck yeah!
