It seems the 9800GX2 will give you abouth the same or higher number for 70% of the cost of a GTX 280.

I was expecting more with all the hype. I can't believe their new flagship card underperforms their old one.

So...you want us to help you decide which card to get or ???

If your upgrade cycle is now, I suppose you COULD buy a 9800GX2. If I were you, though, I'd wait for AMD's cards -- launch is right around the corner. Not so much because AMD will/might kick NVIDIA's ass (unlikely) but because prices will begin to come down some.

Wait until ATI's launch in a few days until you pull the trigger. In all likelihood the 4850 Crossfire option for $200 each will outperform a single GTX280 while remaining cooler and considerably cheaper.
