...are there any other sites as good as or better than StorageReview? i've never had to go anywhere else for info on storage devices, just as i've never had the need to stray outside of AT for hardware etc. info..... :)

In a word: No.
:frown:

There are many many sites out there that do storage reviews, occasionally you'll find a decent review. But even the best of them seldom held a candle to SR in that respect.

I'm really gonna miss SR... that database was next to priceless, it's a loss to every hardware community online that it's gone. The only thing that comes close in optical reviews is cdrinfo.com, and no one else, anywhere, ever, (that i've seen at least) has given scsi its due as SR has (because i mean, c'mon, ata/133 raid has got to be way mo' better than even a lowly ultra-scsi chain of a half dozen drives, right? Who in the heck needs more than two hard drives performing at their peak ability per computer? *cough* *cough*). There are lots of really smart people in the forums though, i'm just going to hope that they stay up in their new form for a long time to come.
SR will be missed,

if only Anandtech could take over what they had :) it would be sweet..

I agree, for Optical reviews the only other site I would trust would be CDR Info..

heh, Anandtech, famous for their Motherbaord reviews (or at least, we used to be, we would if a mobo database would be up), and now for the storage reviews (and database?).

Gah its time for consolidation.

Come on Anand merge with em! Think about it less work for the HDD section something poorly covered @ AT.

Bah, I'd rather host them.

This deeply saddens me... I had no idea and just 1 month ago decided to follow their forums advice and not go with a RAID 0 with Seagate Barracuda IV's since their performance was not so great in RAID 0... Come on AT merge!!... Wish it would happen since I've been reading them for years... This is really the only storage reviewing site I would trust for facts to make purchasing decision... besides the replies I would get here from certain members on these forums... but then I would have to take these with a grain of salt and make my decision without fact but with trustworthiness and what knowledge I have and what logic I can muster to make a decision... Truly, this is one of the only other hardware reviewing sites out there out of the hundreds that I think absolutely shares something with AT: HONESTY! Anand and his site are not bought (short of the banner ads but that's what makes a capitalist economy go 'round and 'round) nor were these guys... Both this site and theirs stood for truth, honesy and the [edit]superb engineering judgement for test setups and explanations[/edit] for reviews of computer hardware. Don't get me started about the other hardware reviewing sites out there... This is a great loss for all of us.
