Specs are in sig.

I know that my video card is nowhere close to the recommended specs, but I'm curious to know what my experience would be and/or what kind of tweaks I could do to squeeze some extra performance out of my rig for gta v.

I'm personally hoping for an experience that's at least close to gta v for the next gen consoles.

Game's not released and requirements are not confirmed. Ask again a week or so after the game is released. Anything you get now is pure speculation.

If you want an experience similar to the next gen consoles, you'll need to at least upgrade your RAM to 8GB and upgrade the GPU to something equivalent to a Radeon HD 7770 or higher.

Official requirements aren't out yet though. In all likelihood, GTAV is going to run rough on PC, if it's anything like GTA4.

I would *guess* a simple GPU update would be adequate to get good performance. GTA IV required a quad to run smoothly, you've got that covered (i7 870 should more than meet the recommended specs), 4GB of RAM is still fine for most gaming (keep in mind that although the consoles have more, it is shared with the GPU) and the rest of your system looks solid.

I'd recommend a Radeon 260 or a Geforce 750 or higher. The 7770 is weaker than the Xbox One GPU.

I suppose the best thing is to wait and see when it's finally released. I personally don't plan on getting a ps4 until the price drops, I just don't play enough video games anymore for it to be worth it to me.

On the other hand I'm planning to build a new PC this spring and though I won't be building it for gaming, I'll still get a decent $125ish video card for it. I could always buy the video card a little sooner and then carry that over to the new system when finished.

Game debate is full of it,even if the recommended has truth to it then why 480/6970.I think many gamers have went on to bigger and better things like 7870/gtx660s and those cards are just overall better cards and have a few years on them even still.

BF4 came out a whole year earlier and they even recommended a 7870/660.....

My system is pretty much right at the minimum specs....

But it's a moot point considering the delay as I'll already have (or be very close to having) my new PC built by then.

Hmm... I could probably benefit from a GPU upgrade quite well. Still rockin a 5850

Yeah, I caught that a few weeks ago. I updated my e8600 to a q9500 so I should be good to go.

OP, might be barely squeezing by with that hardware and you'll probably have to set the absolute minimum settings (don't even know if that 9600GT will even let it launch), GTA 4 barely runs correctly on my Ivy Bridge i7 although I recently found out it's a bug with running Steam (execute the game without Steam and it runs fine but still has FPS hiccups once in a while). Rockstar is known for poorly optimizing their games on PC, LA Noire was a bit of a chore to get going too and GTA San Andreas was a PITA to play without crashing every several minutes.

Needs at least 60GB HDD space, 8GB RAM and a better GPU. Should really just upgrade the whole system.

Is my i3-2100 and GTX 460 going to drag this game down a bunch? I can't afford a new build right now.

Looks like I'm fine. Although I suspect I'll start wanting a new vidcard because of it.
