so...why do you use the ......

I use it in place of having e-mail notifications. I'll search for posts wherein I have posted, and look at replies after instead of having an inbox flooded with notifications.

i like getting the notifications because then i can pretend that people want to talk to me.

"hey, i have 53 new emails! yes!"

actually i almost never return to a thread i've posted in unless i'm purposely calling someone out for a flame war. other than that i have no idea how my posts here are received.
 
I thought the OP meant the search button on the browser itself (the one that's usually between favorites and home). Oddly, I don't think I ever hit any of those buttons except occasionally stop or favorites, and on rare occasion, history.
