So why do you listen to music?

Do you listen to music because you can relate to it?
How do you decide on what is pleasant to your ears?

There are love songs in rap to country...I'm sure if people actually listened to the lyrics of either genre they can find something that they can relate to.

So why is there all this hate? " Rap sucks...or Country sucks "

This came to my head because I was thinking of how I've met many black people and *Most* of them seem to be into rap/R&B. I've been to Rap concerts where the majority is black, been to rock concerts where the majority is white or even 100%.

Perhaps it's because the majority of people are holding others back by calling white people who listen to rap "wiggers" or "crackaz" and same goes for black people who would listen to Rock or Country. "white-washed" ?

Why do people do this, it seems like it only holds us back as a general group.

sorry, I might be generalizing in well..everything. But I hope you understand where I'm trying to come from...
BTW, I'm asian and I enjoy all sorts of music - Rock/Rap/Techno/Classical/Alternative/Foreign. One genre I don't enjoy too much is Country heh...:)

Because I enjoy it. It engages and entertains my brain on some level, be it via the arrangement or the lyrics.

nothing else provokes emotion quite like music. i can be driving home from work and hear a certain song and the hairs on my arms will stand on end.

i'm also prone to feverish bouts of air guitar & air drums, and general rocking out.

Hopefully that part isn't while you're driving... that could be dangerous.

I listen to music simply because I like listening to music. Especially death metal.

music just appeals to something...the lyrics, the melody, the beat, the message, they flow...everything add together to creates something amazing.
