My friend Andy and I are giving up alcohol. He drank a little too much and threw up in front of his house a few times, so we decided it'd be a good idea to give it up for Lent. :)

What are the rest of you (to whom it applies) giving up?

I am giving up meaningless sex. I get so much sex from hot women, that it is driving me nuts. Since I just broke up with my Fiance, and I am feeling really really down, I am going to give up sex. Off to the laundry I go

;)

IIRC:
Lent is the period between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday - 40 days during which the catholic church urges its charges to give up something.

Frankly, it's a moot point, really, but hey, have fun.

ATOT has clearly become the pinnacle for mature discussion. :p Those were some brave attempts at humor, though!

Being Baptist (Southern), we really don't "celebrate" Lent. But I am really gonna' work on cleaning my language up during this period of time.

I'm not Catholic either. I do it for the symbolic aspect. It helps me to be more appreciative of what I won't have to go through.

Does that mean after lent the 92% will go back to their old habits?
