You can then migrate data from the old drive once you get Leopard all set up. That is probably going to be what I do once I finally get around to getting the 7k200 like I have been wanting to do for weeks now (I hate not making money)

That is what I'm going to do, once my 7k200 arrives :D

I've got Leopard, a 200GB 7200rpm internal hard drive and 2GB of RAM ordered and on its way at the moment. My MacBook is getting a hell of an overhaul! Currently got Tiger, 60GB 5400rpm drive and 1GB of RAM.

As I will now have no use for the space on the external, I'm still unsure whether to sell my 250GB external drive or keep it for Time Machine.

Is there any issue with 7200 rpm drives running hot in the Macbook?

Zero, I have the 200 in my wife's 13" and it's just peachy :)

You talked me into it! Today at Best Buy I got a 200GB Hitachi 7K200 (the fastest laptop HD on the market) for $142 through this deal. I will drop it into my MacBook the same day I install Leopard (I am waiting on my order from Amazon).

I got my copy as well from Amazon..pretty quick! Not sure if I should upgrade or do a clean install. Does it really matter?

I did an archive and install of my Leopard Beta install, ad it is great. Your old Apps and library get set into the "Previous System" folder, so you can pull from it at your leisure. But all your settings, documents, movies, etc. are kept. Really, with OS X, there is little need to do a clean install unless you absolutely have/want to.

Well, I have Leopard, my 7K200 and a my 2GB of RAM and boy does it fly!

Logic Studio 8 runs like a dream.

I've had my MacBook about 18 months and with about £100 extra expenditure I've kept it on more or less on the cutting edge of what I want to do.

About two years ago I was very skeptical about moving to Mac, but dual booting XP and OSX is awesome.

Nonetheless, I'm slightly underwhelmed by Leopard. Most of the upgrades are nice but most of the apparently groundbreakingly ingenious developments seem too obviously warranted. In any case, it's an improvement over Tiger and a vast improvement over Vista so I won't be complaining!

Alright, so I sorta "broke down" and bought iWork 2008 along with a preorder of Leopard. Did this at the campus computer store.

iWork (and a lesser extent, Leopard) will hopefully get me more Mac time compared to now when it's 80% Windows and 20% Mac. Hard to justify using Mac when I paid for Office 2003 then 2007 for the PC.

Gotta say I'm liking a lot of Leopard's features...for some reason certain things are a little slow but it seems to be integrated graphics related:( sometimes...and other times not:confused:
