I've found myself listening to this stuff more and more lately. The local station has fewer annoying "scream at you" car commercials than my old classic rock standby, and the tone is a hell of a lot less depressing than anything catagorized as "alternative". In fact, I've concluded the alternative in "Alternative Rock" means alternative to happiness. I just wind up pissed off or wanting to kick someone's ass after listening to any station called "the LASER" or "THE X". On the flip side, I think there's a little TOO much happiness going on in pop music...just a creepy vibe

You know it Bubba! Seriously though I think the quality of country music has been going downhill in the last five years...

I listen to it. I don't think the quality of country has been going downhill. The actual style of it is changing a little but I think it is fine.

Not sure about the quality, it's just not as authentic as it used to be. There seems to be alot more rock influence in it...which I enjoy. When compared to other types of music, it just seems like the country artists are alot more laid back and enjoy what they do...and it comes out in their music

Country these days sounds like Eagles Music sung with a twang. The real Country Music was done by the likes of Merle Haggard, Marty Robbins and Hank Williams (no not hank Williams Jr.)

The trick with country is getting people to like it, it's getting people to ADMIT they like it ;) Kinda like John Tesh.
It's pretty good. My gf listens to a lot of it. Apparently, it doesn't matter where in the US you are, nor what style of riding you do. If you live in the US and ride a horse, you listen to country. Live in the northeast and ride English-style? No matter. You listen to country.

I like country music also. It's not the main type I listen to, but I do like it.
I go for more the older sounding style.

For my money Dwight Yoakum has the perfect male "country voice"! :D
BTW, Click on the jukebox, drop a nickel in and listen to some tunes!

Methinks that's a big part of the issue right there...people don't want to admit that they like it. I don't listen to much country, but I don't hate it, either. It's a #3!! of a lot better than any rap in existance.

New country sucks ass. More bass than rap music.

Jonny cash, George Jones, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson are the real deal. I'm partial Dolly for obvious reasons.

Hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it.

When I was in the middle east there was one radio station that broadcast in English, and they had a three-hour country show every day that my tentmates insisted on listening to. They played the same horrible songs every day, and I honestly came close to smashing the radio.
