AFAIK the UN sanctions was indirectly cause of death of thousands of Iraqi children, because they couldn't get the right medication..... or rather Saddam prevented the medication to reach the right people. I'm to tired to find some info, but it should be available.

*
One Child Dies Every 10 Minutes
*
6000 Children Each Month
*
Nearly 1 Million Dead in 10 Years

'The conditions in Iraq are appalling. Malnutrition is running at about 30% for children under 5 years old.... This is directly attributable to the impact of sanctions, which have caused the breakdown of the clean water system, health facilities and all the things that young children require....It's incompatible with the UN Charter, with the Convention on Human Rights, with the Convention on the Rights of the Child....'
- Denis Halliday, 34-year veteran of United Nations, upon resigning his post as UN administrator for the 'Oil for Food' program

Bush was also behind the sanctions right? Until he decided to start the war at least... Not sure this leaves his column.

I think that most western countries would like to get rid of Saddam, but since they didn't want to risk a way they chose "silent murder", unfortunately it hurt the civil population rather than Saddam. So the international society had backed itself up in a corner wherefrom they couldn't get out. One way was to invade Iraq, and Bush decide that after the 9/11 they could "legally" do this, since they had the support from the western world after the attacks.

I'll wait for the complete investigation into the UN Food For Oil Program to make my final judgement on the opposition to his removal.

This isn't an absolute statement of good, but I think it's better and Bush is closer to my personal view of good than Osama is.

I highlighted the important part. There's nothing wrong with having personal view and there's no doubt this thread is subjective and not the best way to spend time and that we're having fun bla bla bla... It all comes down to your definition of evil anyway... like I said in my first post.

That said I think there are people who would prefer to live in Osama's world. (And I think Bush is fundamentalist too, not as bad because he has people limiting him in this country, but same kind of thinker). So when we are left with personal opinions, I look at the number of lives they cost because I think all human lives are equal so it's a good gauge.

Unecessary death toll....... who say they are unecessary?
A lot of people would but we can save that for another thread (I think it's been gone over with the discussions of the merits of the Iraq war).

;)

Yup, that is my view. I guess not everyone thinks all lives are equal (and even I would probably fudge the quality too in other discussions). This debate is definitely hard to have when people have different views of evil. I'm getting tired of this thread but you made good / interesting arguments without screaming.

Iraq was not Sovereign... the Kurds, Shiites, last time i checked they were being killed in large numbers. Also i dont think mass graves are a symbol of a peaceful state, nor are the elusive Chem weapons. None of us can say they are not there because no one here is in a position to know, however we have seen pictures on the news that were shown at the UN.

The world was not against this way. France and Russia were along with a lot of smaller countries, however Russia isn't exactly a "clean" country, and we all know the rumored french salute *puts hands up in surrender*. Im not degrading these countries but there are obvious reasons.

As for the weapons inspectors... they say there were no weapons however how do they know, they saw what Saddam wanted them to see. They did not walk in a line across Iraq. So though there opinion and knowledge of this is much more than my own, there is definately more to it than meets the eye.

I dont credit bush with feeling the need to do anything or having the willpower, intelligence, or motivation to do anything, I think of him wearing depends and a drool bib while coloring pictures of the superfriends in the oval office all day.....

I think that Bush would be more likely to create a world where freedom of of thought and freedom of every human no matter what they believed in or how they looked would be the rule. I don't think Osama beleif that an atheist has the same rights as a muslim to speak his mind, and I don't think Osama would like a society where you could speak openly against the Koran (Maybe Bush doesn't like people doing it against the bible either, but I think he aknowledge peoples right to do so). And that for one thing makes me think that Bush is, not less evil, but would create a better society.

The empty barrels make most noise.

Those that support each man, claiming the light of Gods Representative to each of their religions, are evil too for the same reasons. Both sinners and their supporters need to be stopped.

This will not happen through violence or retribution. It can only happen when each understands that he is forgiven and could not have done otherwise. But those who can stop them should try as best they can to do so without sin.

LOL friggin retarded.

People who think that OBL has nothing to do with Al Qaida have something wrong with their brain.

Oh yes, you forgot about Osama's band of sissys planting bombs in the WTC about 6-7 years ago.

I suppose the 14000 civilian lives arent anything like Saddam Hussein about 500000? Explain the mass graves coming from bush?

The 14000 dead arent all to blame from us. There is another side there that we are fighting if you didnt notice.

This is relevant to Bush vs. Osama in what way?
