Is this a promotional thing for the new Will Smith movie coming out this summer, I-Robot? Looks like the same robot to me 🙂.

Yep, it is. I got a big wtf from the trailer though, robots aren't supposed to have emotions and these things were blatantly breaking the 3 laws.

You know what sucks?

All this technology was dreamed up 50 years ago and was expected to be here by the turn of the century (2001 a space Odyssey).

We don't have anything even comparable to what this ad shows.

Where the hell is my HAL computer??

You either live in Miami, or some border town in California or Texas.

those are the only towns with latinos?

Maybe just a stereotype, but that's where having maids is very common. In Laredo, TX, it is common for even a lower middle class family to have a maid. Where else in the country do you have that?

Hahah even by the year 2035 this technology won't be here. It'll be closer to 2100 before things like flying cars and closer to 2300 for things like positronic robots and Hal. Technological progress has taken a different path and I kind of feel has slowed quite a bit. Where is the space station and the base on the moon?

I've heard a lot of companies are not wanting to spend a lot on research due to fears of lawsuits. I can understand some company getting sued because they make a product that even when properly used malfunctions in a manner that causes harm or death. But companies getting sued because some idiot put a sledgehammer through the product and got electocuted....

Its an ad for the new movie coming out with Will Smith "I, Robot" at least I'm guessing. On the front page there is the image that says 3 laws safe. In the trailer, they tell you about the 3 laws of Robots. Also, the fact that the top of the page says I robot now.

flying cars are just around the corner. in fact, one has been in development for 40 years. a prototype has been built that can hover and manuever slightly (front page of USA Today last week). the problem w/ flying cars is not the technology required to have a flying car, but instead it's the lack of infrastructure to support thousands of flying cars.

however, the problem w/ having an 'automatic personal assistant' is w/ the technology itself, more specifically AI.

10.5 megapixel resolution in the eyes, 24/7/365 customer service available within a half hour of anywhere, robots available in July, and all data beamed back to a central computer system for storage?

Nice movie preview. I'd settle for a CAMERA with 10.5 megapixels. 🙂

The thing with flying cars is we can't rely on a turbofan or piston driven engine for lift. It's to noisy and consumes to much fuel.

We need a way to manipulate gravity and use some type of gravity wave propulsion device.
