What are you guys playing? Whats the best one out there you say right now?

I just watched .hack//sign and it really made me want to play an MMORPG now. lol. I told myself to never play one since I would probably get addicted and its too much $, but I really feel like playing... been a while since I've PC gamer.

Come Dec 9, Ill be playing Horizons.

I plan to play Pirates of the Burning Sea when it comes out in late Q1 to late Q2 2004, hopefully will get into beta when it starts soon.

Ill try Ultima X: Oddessy, and MEO but I dont know how well Ill like them.

Also plan to play WoW, EQ2, D&D Online. But these most likely will come out in 2005.

I prefer showering, shaving, using deodorant, sex, life, and various other things that you have to give up when you choose to become an MMORPG player.

Well Horizons comes out on Dec 9(Europe gets it tomorrow). Pirates of the Burning Sea will be out sometime in Q2 in all likely hood, with beta starting in Janurary.

UXO comes out around mid 2004, and MEO comes out at the end of 2004. As for WoW, EQ2, and D&D Online, Ill play all three and then pick which one I like the most. WoW should come out near the beginning of 2005, EQ2 should come around mid year, and D&DOnline should make it by the end of 2005, so that will make it easier to choose.

I still load up the good ole EQ everynow and then. All of my charecters are real low level though, so it sucks. One of these days I am going to stop. I delete my chaeters so that I have to do the same sh!t over and over again, forcing myself to get bored with the game.

I've never given up any of those. Then again, I'm not the type of person prone to addiction.

I've been playing Asheron's Call for nearly 4 years.

I tried Asheron's Call 2, but I don't like it next to the original.

My friends tried DAOC and WW2:eek:nline. They thought both of those sucked.

HZ is almost out already?? I got the impression it still sucks big time, and/or is seriously lacking on the content (like SWG). This patch to final product mentality is really irritating.

Were you in the HZ beta as well? I am having my copy overnight'd to my house. I plan on going Dwarf->Blacksmith, Outfitter as low-level trade schools and mage as my adventure school.

I have been in the beta the last few months. It isn't bad at all.

No, I didnt play beta. I havent been in a MMOG beta since AC1, even then I only played in beta 0 and beta 1, skipped the rest of them. I skipped because I didnt like the changes, the new testers, and I felt it would ruin the game for me. I picked up AC1 and played if for a couple years.

I dont plan on particapting in betas, except for Pirates of the Burning Seas, its a bit different, and more than likely has a steeper learning curve.

I played one until I realized it is basically IRC, but you periodically update a database while chatting.

I think he means, when it was originally announced they listed alot of features, and even after it announced they announced new features, alot of this didnt make it into the game, they had to slash alot of stuff out. It was the guy that founded the company making all the promises, he was forced out of the company, then started a new one. That guy was/is an incompetent tool of a game developer.

When I played AC1, I rarely chatted with anyone. Especially for the first 2 months. There is alot more to MMOGs than chatting, and "periodically update a database".

Every time I start thinking about playing a MMORPG I just fire up Diablo II instead. Battle.net is free and after a few days of playing D2 the MMORPG urge is gone.

It's like masturbating when you're considering picking up a hooker.

Partially. This does bring up a good point, though. Every MMORPG since AC has promised some sort of awesome new features and whatnot that will make it different. There have been probably almost a dozen MMORPGs since then, and NOT ONE has been able to deliver. Every single one has had their most interesting and unique features slashed so all we're left with is the exact same game in a different universe with slightly better graphics. If this was the approach then industry was going to take they should have saved everyone their time and just waited till EQ2.

The thing with AC1 though is, some of their features they included should have been scrapped, or redone. Compare the first 6 months of AC1 to the last 8-12 months of AC1. Yeah alot of stuff was overhauled and redone or just done away with because really it wasnt need.

But I agree for the most part, most games have been practically the same. Ultima X, is likely to change that. Pirate of the Burning Sea should to but its not your typical MMORPG, and the first release will be missing quite alot. I really dont think MEO has much promise of offering something more than previous MMORPGs. Lineage II doesnt either. I really dont think WoW will either.

I have hope for EQ2 and D&D Online. More hope on D&D Online because its the first game Turbine will be able to call ALL the shots, as they are funding it all by themselves. AC1 was dictated by MS once MS got their hands on it, AC2 was ALL MS, everything had to be cleared BY MS. Atari is distributing D&D Online, but they have no say in the development process, so I do have high hopes for it.
