screenshots are sved to the My Documents folder as .png files.
You can rezone areas with a higher level of zoning and it won't destroy anything there, but when the need comes to upgrade from like houses to apt, it will do so.

Thoughts about SimCity 4 versus SimCity 3000? I'm positive I will be getting it for my birthday from my wife, even though I didn't ask for it or hint at it. Is it worth the money, or should I strongly hint at other things?

If you like God building games it is good and a challenge to boot. I like the interface alot better than previous versions and they've added some nice touches such as regions. It runs slow when your city gets large, especially when zoomed all the way in or out, but I still enjoy playing it.

I personally couldn't get into SimCity 3000 for some reason but am enjoying the limited time I have had with SimCity 4.

I think you answered your own question. I love SimCity 3000 but the interface is a pain in the neck to learn. The interface was great on the other Sim City games though. Every time I come back to it in 6 months, I've completely forgotten the layout of all the buttons.

Slow you say? I've got a 2.4 GHz P4 (533 MHZ fsb), will that still seem slow?

I do like God games, and the graphics do look better from the one screenshot I saw. But I'm interested in the game play. Is it better/worse in your opinion than SimCity 3000?

115k people ... but this is because I built my city on a very large terrrain (4 times larger than the default).

It's a PITA to get it to grow ...
But I stopped playing ... when I start dreaming about SimCity, it's time to stop (I stopped playing SC2k because of this too).

Well, I have an Athlon 1800+ with 512MB of Ram and a GeForce TI4400 and I get occasional slowdowns and redraws. The game is a bit of a memory hog and has a known issue with ATI videocards. I'm not sure how much difference the faster FSB will have (mine is 266 MHZ) but your PC should handle it just fine.

I actually enjoy the game play over 3000. The one complaint that I have is the need to click on city building such as schools and hospitals to individually adjust their funding levels throughout the game. You don't want to overfund them or you are just wasting money. But, the game does not automatically bump up or drop down the funding level to meet demand (which would make a great option in a future patch IMHO).

They added the ability to go down to the Sim level and see how individual Sims spend their day. You can even import Sims from the Sims game if you like. I don't have that game so that is not a feature of the game I have explored and can't really comment on.

simcity.ea.com has some decent forums for discussion about the game.

I have Dual Athlon 1600+'s, 768mgs of REg. ECC DDR, 80 gig harddrive 7200 rpm with at least 1/2 empty, etc.... And I have slowdowns also. So I don't think it is possiable to NOT have any slow downs.

Game is not fully optimized, hope a patch can help this?

If you have never played SimCity, can you just pick up v4 and understand everything? Or do you need to work your way up?
