I will picking it up within the next couple of days, and can't wait. Who has got their copy and can tear away from it for a sec to give us your thoughts?

How is the running and passing game? How is the new owner mode? How well does the new playmaker controls work?

Is their much difference between the previous year version besides the rookies, updated roster, different layout in the menu?

I did not notice much difference between NBA 2K2 and 2K3.

There are some decent upgrades from last years version if you really get into the dynasty mode. They have the owner mode where you can build your own stadium, customizing it from several different parts, raising and lowering ticket prices (upper, lower, end zone, and luxury seating), concession prices, and parking. You have to deal with relocating your team in the event you suck and can't afford, you have to factor in how much money the city is willing to help out with, and much much more.

Plus, the new playmaker controls allows you to control you reveivers on the fly and call for blocks while on the run, and also on defense allows you to iniate certain things in the middle of a play. Nothing but good stuff sounds like.

The sound effects and the menus aren't that hot.
The music is customizable, sort of. You can turn songs on/off.
Graphics look a little better than before.
The owner mode is amazing. It goes into a lot of detail in setting up a franchise.
LOTS of new plays. Run 'n Gun. Audible on defense after the snap. Alter pass routes on-the-fly

Just initial observations.

This is on PS2 hooked to an HDTV via composite video.

Wish I had an XBOX with its 480p graphics!

I just played the pc demo. Uh it was ok but since I don't have a joystick port on my laptop, I had to use the keyboard. Needless to say I got my butt kicked. I like the gameplay but they really need to upgrade the graphics. NFL Fever easily has better graphics but less realistic gameplay. If they could combine the two I would be in football heaven.

played it last night. the gameplay is noticeably quicker, and i like that. some new interesting ofensive formations, and the training camps are a bit tougher this time around. i also like how the camera pans around and the view it presents. you get to see the whole field, even when the QB is scrambling and decides to pass. kinda get repetitive tracks though. i heard killer mike's "ashkon (remix)" like in every menu.

I've had my copy for PC since Monday, and this is the best version of Madden to date. Franchise mode is much better, the once inept defensive backs now have their heads in the game, it's just completely improved over any other version.

IMO the graphics are great as well...XP 2000+ and 9800 Pro here. I have AA-AF all the way up and TruForm turned on at 1280x1024 and it looks phenomenal.

You were supposed to say no.

Hopefully I'll see it used someplace in a few months. I can't justify paying full price for it since I already have 2003.

I have every version of Madden for PC since Madden Football which was 95 or 96 I think. So to answer your question, yes, I'd still buy it. ;)

I think EB will give you money off 2004 if you trade in 2003. Plus if you have a Fry's electronics near you the game is only $35 there. (PC anyway)

Yea, EB will give the amount worth of the game + $5. I had some ooooooooold PS2 games I never play anymore so I got Madden for free basically.

Best Madden Ever! I have it for PS2 and have yet to even try playing online (need new lan cable, don't have one long enough). Vick owns in this game. Does anyone notice that if the computer is behind in the 4th quarter, they start to covert EVERY third down? It pisses me off cause I'd be up 42-10 or something going into the 4th then I'd only win by 7-10 points.. messes up my defensive stats like crazy.. :(

In 2003, with Fantasy Draft turned on, my team was able to get about 40 interceptions in one season(computer-controlled DB) in its 2nd or 3rd season. In the earlier season I probably got like 10. The big difference is that I had a DE who could put pressure on QBs. That makes a huge difference in Madden 2003(for PC anyway... Don't know about consoles). It also kept their passing yards under control as well.

I did

In 2004 , the tackling is more realistic as is the player movements.

I am playing franchise mode right now, drafting quality rookies is more of a crap shoot then Madden 2003 was...

I tried owner mode for a while it is cool but I want to master the game before diving into the financial aspects of owner mode..

The Plays are ALOT more extensive both on offense and defense, I like where the previous play is replayed trhe same time you can pick your next play also saves time over Madden 2k3.

Graphics are much better and also play smoother on my system the Madden 2K3 did.

Is owner mode the same as franchise mode, but with all the financial aspects to the game?
