I went to the two local Gamestops (and even one about 10 miles away) after work around 9:30 am and all 3 locations had about 30+ uber nerds camping out there since 5-6 am. Considering the max each store was going to have was 6-16 units I didn't bother getting in line and left. Anyone get lucky?

ill wait until the price drops to like $300-$400 before buying PS3 🙂 or until some good promo with a couple of games for a decent price

Keep waiting... not going to happen for a long long time. Sony can't afford to loose anymore cash then they already are with all the screw of PSP to Sony battery to BMG.

PS3 probably won't drop in price until Sony realise that they're not a premium brand and cannot ask for a price that high for their product. Even if they call it a home media centre it's not going to sell. Granted, it's a cheap(er) Blu-ray player, but that's not enough to make it exclusive. I can't see Sony doing anything about the price because they are, in essence, a bunch of money grabbing a-holes. I don't see a lot of European gamers buying PS3s for a while, simply because of the fact that we've been told we essentially like waiting for consoles :|

I think i'll just walk into any store around, grab a Wii, ( probably like everyone else ) and go home. True though, If they were ( enough ) PS3's at launch, and easy to come by ( like Nintendo's Console's ) I would buy one myself. But since there won't be....well...you know what they say.

Wii will Wii will rock you..............LoL

only thing i hate about nintendo is their games are always aimed towards kiddys

the only Wii games I like are

1: Zelda

and

2: Metal Gear (if its even coming out for Wii)

PS2 had the widest selection of games and it was the console that lasted the longest out of all 🙂 its the oldest and it outlived the newest (Xbox)

Oh...I agree on one thing. About 55% are for kids. But what about .....

Mario ( come on, you know you like'em )
Zelda
Resident Evil
Excite Truck
Red Steel
Metroid 3 Corruption
Duck Hunt ( return of a classic )
Not sure about Metal Gear for Nintendo....Although Snake is in the AWESOME game Super Smash Brothers Brawl....

There is going to be ALOT of 3rd party support for the Wii. It's allready been said by Nintendo themselves.

And to be honest, I feel sorry for Sony in this round.

Although the PS1 was originally a Nintendo cd add-on that didn't go well.

Well problem with me with Wii is that Nintendo is still being ahole about Online as the only Online Mutliplayer game this year on Wii will be Pokemon and it not even coming to US untill 2007 , just japan. The only game i would want on launch but after playing zelda wii at e3 , i was not impressed with its controls. I am not going to buy wii at launch , just get zelda on gamecube and then buy a Wii at when more good games come out.

Red Steel = sucks
Wii sport = fun but the fun only last few hrs ;( a group game i think
Zelda = control issue
Metroid Prime 3 = WANT AND IS THE KILLER APP THAT WILL MAKE ME BUY A Wii but not coming out this year ;(
Super Smash Bros. Brawl = Another game i really want but not coming out this year
Super Mario Galaxy = So want but the game isn't coming out this year
Resident Evil = haven't seen anything about the game but i trust in campcom in making awesome game , not coming for a long long time
Trauma Center = so buying this game 🙂

The Wii has no killer Role playing game ;( which isn't cool and it hasn't gotten alot of killer 3rd party support
Fire Emblem = not coming for a long long time ;(

So i don't see me buying a Wii untill March 2007 when it has some games because this year lineup sucks... now Sony maybe totally idiots at promoting the PS3 but i can tell you it does have some pretty awesome game and better launch line up than Wii but the price is too high.

Decent

Decent

Resident Evil
Would rather play it on PS3/360 instead of Wii's crap graphics.

Excite Truck
LOL sucks.

Red Steel
Looks like it sucks.

Metroid 3 Corruption
Never liked any of the metroids.

Duck Hunt ( return of a classic )
Whoopee.

Well if Nintendo said it then it must be true! I'm sure there will be a decent amount of support since it will be easier to develop for given its deficient graphics compared to the other consoles so not as much effort will be needed to please the consumer. PS3/360 will require both graphics and gameplay where as all that will be needed for a Wii is just mildly amusing gameplay to get by. See the problem with Nintendo fans is they've been duped--they think Nintendo really cares about gameplay and thats why they gave them a GC+ with a new remote. What was stopping Nintendo from giving a competitive GPU with their machine AND the Wiimote? Nothing but greed.

And to be honest, I feel sorry for Sony in this round.

Yeah so do I, they won't be able to make enough PS3's to keep up with demand! Anyhow, way to hijack a thread about PS3 reservations.

Like all my other console purchases I will wait until the first good price drop and or sweet game bundle (I have a GC, Xbox & PS2).

So far I have no real interest in the xbox360.

I got in on the PS3 preorders. There were people in line at the stores here and 99% of the Gamestops sold out within 5 min of opening.

What they don't tell you is that each store will get 3 probably, but will sell 100+ pre-orders. Prepare to get disappointed.

I think you meant to say "newer" being that the Xbox 360 is still alive and well.

im 9th in line in one store back home in toledo, oh.
here in columbus, i couldn't get in to any line, and most stores other than the one I am in line at were filled. my dad went on his lunch break to put his name down for one.
i might camp at this smaller circuit city thats about 20 minutes from campus. my buddy works there, and lives in that town, and said there wasn't a line for the x360 so ima try and get into that one.

Each store did a pre-order of 16 units MAX because they already had a dilemma with the Xbox360's. Some stores only did 6, others did 8. I'm pretty sure that they did this because they already have a general idea about how many they are going to be recieving on the launch date. I guess we'll just have to kick back and see. (Btw, if each store only gets a couple, these things are going to be blistering on eBay...).

Yeah, Gamestops "delimma" with the XBOX360 was there was big $$ to be made selling the console in online uber-bundles. Once that happened, they screwed their pre-order customers with no lube.

Pre-ordering anything at gamestop is a waste of time. If it is released in quantity, you will be able to find it at launch. If it is limited enough to warrant a pre-order, you arent getting one anyway.
