The original trailers really made me want to see the movie http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/thefountain/trailer1/
and I thought the movie would do really well, but these recent 10 second movie clips I've seen on tv the last few days are horrible... are they actually supposed to entice people to see the movie?

I'll probably still go and see it sometime over the weekend, but if I hadn't seen the real trailer weeks ago instead of these recent ads there would be no way in hell I'd waste my time.

I saw it. If you're into artsy movies, this is definitely the movie for you. The soundtrack is awesome.

I liked it quite a bit. Not entirely sure how it fits into my "Best of 2006" list because I'm still processing it. Very philosophical. The love story was warm, but it could have been even warmer. If the chemistry and love had been as epic as Eternal Sunshine or Constant Gardener, this movie would have been even better. Definitely worth seeing, but it is very slow and contemplative and might turn off people who want action. Certainly his slowest film, and I suspect many people won't be able to take it. Definitely an avant garde film.

I can all but guarantee you there will be dozens if not hundreds of posts misinterpreting the movie to be about time travel. Which would not be surprising since they were almost promoting it thusly.

The visuals were off the charts. Better than any I can remember in recent years. The sound track was good too, great in some places.

Actually I think the promotion puts forth the idea of immortality, not time travel, but that could be just my impression.

My local paper gave it a horrible review. The reviewer thought it was mostly unconvincing pseudo religious bullsh!t and was surprised the actors could keep straight faces while going through the dialog.

I might pick it up on DVD but def ain't gonna throw down $$ for a theater ticket.

Odd... there was a bit of religious stuff but it was not all that religious overall IMO. It was a pretty basic story about love and death.

I interpreted the trailer/teasers to be about the persuit of immortality also. I really wanted to see this movie a few months back, but now I'm not so sure it wouldn't be better to just wait for it to be released on dvd.
