OK, RMA'd 9800SE due to wierdness. So...
1. 5900nu is NOT AN OPTION
2. 9600 XT 128MB 500/676 $175
3. 9500 Pro 128MB 275/540 $178

The 9500 Pro has a 10% GPU advantage, from all that I can see, and seems to come to right about that much better benchmarking. However, the 9600 is only that 10% behind there, and has far faster memory.
So...which would be better? I can't seem to find any benchmarks on the PowerColor 9600 XT with the 338MHz memory, nor reviews with similar memory overclocks but no GPU overclock (however, most of the GPU overclocks have been impressive).

hm i voted "results" to see the results.. now i can't vote :p in terms of pure #s, the 9500 has a slight edge, but overclocking the 9600xt may help, and for whatever (i'm tired and not so logiacl maybe) reason, i feel maybe the 9600xt has more "growing" room.. so that's my vote :p

I'd get the GFFX 5900SE. It costs the same as the 9600XT and outperforms the ATI 9800np half the time according to firingsquad.com (5 out of 9 games) I believe it outperforms the 9600XT on every one of the games or at least the majority of them.

It's not a 5900nu. It's a 5900SE and the 5900nu is $30 more. I assumed his problem was w/ the price.

I know. But see, I couldn't play any video (aside from quicktime) on my GF4 using newer (43.xx, IIRC) drivers, because of NVidia's Macorvision BS (it was only supposed to stop DVD playback...it didn't). So NVidia is out of the question. I admit the performance for the price is excellent and all that good stuff, but I'm not buying another NVidia for at least this current product generation.
