so, which RAM is it?

Hello Everyone :), I am interested in updating my system's RAM from $ to 8 GB. The manual says it could take DDR3(O.C)/0166/8000 Mhz. I was wondering would these Samsung modules work in mine?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/351403999027?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&fromMakeTrack=true

Thanks A lot Guys:)

Which motherboard? Samsung made some great DDR3 RAM. I just think you could get a great 2x4GB kit of DDR3-1600 for as little as $10 more -- maybe less than that.

Which motherboard? Which processor?

True -- a few chuckles there.

The OP has some 51 posts, a little late, but "welcome to the forums."

Some fledgling enthusiasts come late to the game, and I've seen more of it lately.

So let's put him on track, here. Which motherboard? Which processor?

Interesting. A C2D LGA-775 board made for DDR3.

You're best to review the QVL list; see what manufactures are recorded; possibly -- extrapolate your findings there to an available kit.

Or -- order the Samsungs, test and take your chances. Hopefully, the reseller has a return-policy on the purchase.

UPDATE: The QVL list contains a 4GB Samsung model M378B5273BH1-CF8, and there's a Transcend module using a Samsung part number.

A good chunk of the QVL list includes 1 and 2GB modules rated at 1866 to 2200 Mhz, annotated with "downgrade to 1066." That means you would buy such modules and then run them at the lower speed, I think.

Generally, a QVL list is only a sample of makes and specs tested for the board, and you can extrapolate or "guess" that similar modules by those manufacturers would work.

The Samsung model I listed is the only 4GB module in the QVL list.

I'm just making a shot in the dark here that the modules the OP found at EBay are very likely a fit for this board.

Anybody else have an opinion?

I own a g41 express chipset MB and dropped 2x2GB DDR3 1.5v. The g41 northbridge memory controller supports both ddr2 and ddr3 and it was up to MB manufacturers to choose between DDR2, DDR3 or both for final MB products. It was a nice chipset for 775 as it brought down overall 775 systems costs down when ddr3 memory could be found for less $ than ddr2.

EDIT: By samsung's own specs:
The M378B5273CH0 found by OP seems to be almost identical with the GB's QVL listed M378B5273BH1. I don't think that you can find a better match. They should work. They will downclock with respect to FSB, of course.

Those aren't the notorious "magic mem" 30nm class samsung modules(M379B5273DH0-YK0 on mine), but they should work fine.
Worst case scenario you might have to manually set the timings in the bios to get them to full speed.
I really like my samsung ddr3

I discovered only recently that fresher generations of mobos actually have an "information" menu-page in BIOS that reports all the JEDEC and XMP data encoded in the EEPROM SPD. I only say that, in case his board doesn't auto-detect and configure, but it probably would. If it does, and it boots to Windows, CPU-Z would show it, and he can go back in and tweak the RAM settings as desired.

This info is really funny and same time intuitive. Thanks guys

Ya sorta have a couple choices or avenues. It's an old motherboard. No QVL list is comprehensive enough. I might find G.SKILL "GBRL" 1033 modules in the QVL for my Z68 board. the DDR3-1600's GBRL's aren't there. But you know, since they run at 1333 in their JEDEC specs, they're good.

You can go to the Ram manufacturer's web-site and see if they have a "configurator". With luck, they do. with luck, you'll find the motherboard of interest. Then of course, you could be S-O-L both ways.

It's just clear to me that the Samsungs linked in the thread will work with that board.
