Well it's the 15th and the amd pricedrop I read about in a few different places didn't come. What do places like anandtech base these predictions on?

It's Sunday, the people who update the website are likely not working.

Being it's Sunday (in most places) why don't we wait a day or so 😉 as far as AT having info I would pretty much bank on it, plus many places lower their prices before hand. (not that I've seen any)

Well, this site is suposed to have realtime pricing... I don't really care to much I couldn't wait for the drop and ordered mine a few days ago. Newegg however seems to be having trouble processing my order : (

I've seen a $30 price drop on the 3200 Barton 400 from $193 to $163. All of the Bartons dropped in price.

Well, according to the Anandtech Feb. price guide we were to expect price drops last week, I quote - "The official AMD price cuts will come on the 15th, but vendors usually jump the gun by a week or so. Although we don't know exactly how much we will see in price drops, we can probably safely assume the A64 3000+ will duck under $200 to get competitive with the Pentium 4 2.8C. The rest of the line should move as well."
Now I wonder if we will see much of anything in lowered prices, as yesterday's Reuters quote of AMD's new marketing campaign:
"a new pricing structure that takes the emphasis off rock-bottom price tags".

The guide has been wrong before . . . I am glad I didn't wait . . . my 2.80c P4 has been happily o/c'd to 3.4Ghz at default for the past 2 weeks . . . sometimes it pays NOT to wait.

And it's MONday and no sign of AMD price cuts (as "promised"). 😛

Change your religion. 😛

I think they went UP.

I think it is fairly safe to assume that vendors had the word at least a week ago that there would be a new pricing structure from AMD or there would have been some downward movement in prices last week.
Further, I can't help but believe that there is a serious error in judgment by the exec'.s at AMD, as, no they will never have the name recognition of "Intel". Just as there have been better operating systems than the ones Microsoft have marketed over the years, it just isn't about the product. If this new "policy" proves true, AMD would be deserting the price/performance strategy that has made it successful, not to mention abandoning loyal customers who sought same. I'm beginning to believe those of you who say that the best option today is an overclocked p4. I am so discouraged by AMD's strategy that I will be exchanging the mobo and ram purchased for a new AMD system in favor of a new strategy of my own.
