Tried the freecreditreport.com and a couple of other trash sites, and they ask for a credit card??? What strikes me funny is they claim it's free, yet they have the funding for TV commercials. And I'm sure they don't make that much for their internet ads since there are hardly any to be found.

Anyway, just wondering if there's any means possible to get one online or even by mail for that matter. It seems that everyone else but the individual has access to this info so you'd figure it would be almost a right to access your report for free.

Sometimes CC companies will offer (for an annual fee of course) a service (the one I did was called PrivacyGuard) where they'll send you reports from the three main agencies, plus a DMV report and one other one I can't remember. The cool thing is that you can cancel in the first 30 days or whatever. So I got all the reports and wasn't too satisfied with the value for my money. So I cancelled and was never billed.

Otherwise they only sure way is to apply for a credit card and get denied. If you are denied credit you are entitled to a free credit report from the one credit agency whose info was used to deny you. Information on how to obtain it will be sent to you in a letter after the denial.

In some states it's unlawful to charge for credit reports, and some guarantee you one free per year or something like that. If I weren't feeling lazy, I'd do a search on google for you, but you or someone else can do it. :)

Aaahh O.T. The ultimate search engine!!!!

Thanks for the tip chill!!! I have been denied once and those bastards never sent me a thing! Wonder if I can do anything with that? ;)

wothknowing.com was extremely helpful although I'd really like to compare this with an Equifax report but, it all seems to be pretty accurate...Thanks brown!!! :)
