I still have to ask, how is this different than the Venice core chips that shipped on April 4th according to AMD?

I run AMD in all my systems right now.......but looking at this without bias in either direction, both Intel & AMD have been notorious of "paper launches" recently. The fact that you can call Dell/Alienware and get a date on a complete system to be delivered is at least something.........nobody seems to know when to expect delivery on the Venice chips................LOL!

As nothing more then a prescott core I dont think that will be the norm.....Plus I would think AMDs will OC just as well as they do now......

I on the other hand am looking forward to slapping a venice core in my next box.

Sugar coat it all you want......I'm no Intel fanboi or AMD Fanboi, but, AMD did state the chips would be shipping April 4th (Venice)........and April 15th (San Deigo) and they didn't point blank. If you can't admitt both companies here as well as nVidia/ATI are all guilty of "paper launches" or "paper releases" or "Paper shipping dates" that's just to bad.....I won't lose any sleep! LOL!

It's not like anybody here doesn't know what a paper lauch is. If you can order a Venice chip from AMD (not preorder) then its not a paper lauch. Same goes for Intel, Dell, whoever. I just checked the Dell site and let me tell you, I can't find any offerings of Pentium D anything. Maybe I didn't look in the right spot, but don't you think something like a dual core processor be HEADLINED on the home page? Dunno.

This is facts. And a fact is that AMD hasn't announced any concrete day for Venice/San Diego core release or ship. Officially only has said second quarter. Period.

That was an inquirer article I belive thta stated something about April 4th, as well as rumos from extreme's website that stated retailers were saying something about April 4th in preorders.....

AMD has not officially stated anything let alone even officially launched the venice core...I think they dont intend to as it is just a core revision.....
