What is the plan with activation? Does Microsoft just plan 'not' to activate them anymore?
Seems like that may really piss lots of ppl off (me included). . .
Just curious.

If you run out of activations on a personal license, you have to call Microsoft every time you want to reactivate.

You don't read well.
I asked what are they going to do when the product is end of life. . .
So they are going to keep paid lackies 10 years from now activating XP?
I was curious if the plan was ever divulged or will any xp users who wish to continue to use it after EOL have to resort to breaking the law and use an activation patch.

I would assume regular internet activations would continue to work. EOL usually just means technical support stops.

I install Win 95/98 every now & then on older H/W for friends & family that cannot afford new H/W and/or S/W, but only need 'net access 🙂

KB999999 - Windows XP Activation Removal. This update addresses the removal of the license activation scheme used by Windows XP. The activation system will be deactivated and will no longer function for the Windows XP product family. This update removes the activation requirement.
