So when will Anand's Storage Bench become a downloadable .exe?

The problem is that its more of a scheduler. In order to run the test, each user would need to have at least:
The same version of photoshop,
The same version of Dreamweaver,
The same Web Browser build,
The same Starcraft II install,
The same WoW install,
The same Virus Scanner build,
The same Visual Studio 2008 build,
ect...

There are just too many variables when run on the users side when compared to something as simple as AS SSD.

That's one way to do it, that is, to recreate the exact same testing environment that Anand uses. However, I was thinking of Anand putting out a competing benchmark suite that approximates the original environment in a 1GB file or smaller.

All you need are different file sizes, varying in compressibility, cluster size, queue variations, etc. Not saying it's easy to do or that it's even worth it for Anand to do it. Just saying it'd be cool is all.

As I understand it the benchmark doesn't run this stuff every time but has recorded one run that is replayed. Personally at least that sounds a) easier to implement and b) much less prone to inaccuracies.

Also I think Anand talked about publishing the benchmark (or the older one) some time ago, but if you want a definite answer it's a better idea to mail Anand - it's not likely that he reads this forum on a regular basis (actually the only writer you happen to see here sometimes is ryan in the GPU section afais)
