I think it just means you have to get wasted at bars more often. You can still come home and play on the computer afterwards, but you will bring much worldly knowledge which will shine through in your fabulously entertaining posts.

Same here. A close friend of mine is in a similar situation. I am trying to get him motivated to go out and talk to people (girls perhaps... ;) ). I gave him an ultimatum to hang out with a girl he doesn't know primarily as just a friend by the end of this year. Otherwise, he will get a beat down. ;)

But I can't say much because I am a hermit by nature, too. ;)
I do go out and I have good friends and people that respect me, but I notice that I enjoy much more time by myself reading a book or playing an instrument than most other people around me. Most of my friends think I am strange because I read school books for fun now. (I guess I neglected it too much in college and now I am just compensating) ;)

OP, time to get out there and do something. Motivate yourself to be better.

Your excessive use of winking emoticons is scaring me.

Been there, done that.
My computer is my life and anything that can add to that is quite enjoyable.
The wife's gone. The kids are all grown up and thriving on their own.
My job now is fixing other people's computers and I still enjoy the challenge.
People still come by and say, I should get out more. Will wonders never cease.
You make a niche in life to retreat to. No problems and complete peace.
Living in Hawaii makes that happen.

I'm told that just because I don't keep up on the latest junk that Hollywood puts out, either the movies, or most of the idiocy that's on TV, or the latest in fashion, I don't have a life. Or at least that contributes to it. I don't follow the latest trends that corporate America says I should follow. I don't do act like the actors on TV want me to act. I couldn't care less about a bunch of people who devote their lives to playing organized sports. This means I'm "out of the loop", apparently. I don't care to participate in small talk about nothing. Yeah, talk about the weather. Hey, I can see what it's doing outside too. Too often it seems that people will talk simply to fill voids of silence.
