Now that the election is over when does the namecalling, gloating, bitching, etc, etc, etc....begin? I guess it is too much to hope that both sides will be civil.

right now :)

from everything I've seen tonight, though, the Republicans have been big with the gloating, while the liberals have been somewhat civil.

Overall I've been pretty impressed but there's been some classy examples of gloating and personal attacks too. It is too much to hope both sides will be civil. This is P&N. :)

It will begin when Bush appoints Jerry Falwell and John Ashcroft to supreme court

naw, it is going to go back to normal, like before where all the complaints are from the left of center, while the right of center will defend.

at lease I still have my job. and i can eat good food whenever i want.

I think the Republicans have been pretty well behaved considering all the gloating and predictions of doom and gloom against Bush that went on yesterday. For a while there the Dems were dancing on the ceiling.

In the overall "got class" department I think the Repubs take the prize. I'm not sure it would have been quite so civil or classy had Kerry won.

The Libs have one big victory as I see it: Cynthia McKinney from GA returns to the US Congress.

All is not lost!

As long as the current leader believes he was appointed with a mandate P&N will exist. I suspect people will start calming down when a leader actually has centrist ideals and policys.

Personally I'll give him a chance before making any waves. 9/11 did F us up but good economically, and aside from the war I haven't had too many gripes with this admin. He made many promises while stumping and debating and both said they could pay down half the debt in 4yrs, so I will give him time to implement his new policies and see if they are effective. IOW for now I'll be quiet and let this admin run the country as they see fit and let their works decide wether public outrage or public praise are in order.

Wow - you must be very selective in the threads you read...

I've already seen some pretty nasty gloating, but it's mostly from pretty junior members here.

As I've said in a few different threads, I think it's clear our country is deeply divided, and I hope we can limit our debate to substantive issues, rather than engaging in unnecessary bickering and name-calling.

I congratulate President Bush and his supporters on their victory, and hope America does great in his second term.

My point was that there are plenty of jackasses on both sides of the fence posting crap...

Then I agree with that.

I agree most of the ugly stuff seems to be confined to the Juniors for the most part. The longtime members as a group seem to have kept it civil and friendly for the most part which i find to be a very appealing change.

True, I've been in lurk mode since yesterday(for the most part) due to my DSL going down at home and being busy at work. I did however have to post one gloat post with the .wav of the fat lady signing.:p

I think the petty bickering, whether it is pointed whining or boisterous gloating, is pretty silly at this point.

I figure most will just go back to their normal lives and those of us left will be able to remain civil for the most part.:)

I dunno about Hell breaking loose here. I'm not bitter at all. I support our President and I hope that he will at least try to bring this nation together. Do you think that's too much to ask?
