Man, it's almost been a YEAR now since the 5900 and 9800 came out... I'm ready to build a new computer now but am REALLY dissapointed I have to put in a Year Old (brand new) video card in it...

Oh sure... put a few letters after it (XT) to make us think we're getting a new card. Pffffffffffffft!

probably may sometime.. and despite nv "paper launching" before ati, it wouldn't surprise me if the ati cards actually hit retail first...

ATI may beat nvidia to the shelf. Seems like it may be a month or 2 before we can actually buy them.

CaiNam beat me to it. :D

Still, we will see benchmarks soon enough, and that's what will influence the people who are dishing out big bucks for these cards. Not shelf time.

It really suchs that I'd STILL have to wait another Month to buy one... Even then, they new ones will prolly cost upwards of $500... shesh...

Maybe they'll give the 9800's away after the launch.. lol :D

No one seems to know exactly what ATI is up to, but reports are very promising. HIS states they are making a quiet version with Artic Cooler - which is very good news for us quiet nuts.

nVidia is going to win this round. Their 6800 regular is going to sell at $300 dollars, and have a full 16 pipelines, that's unbeatable for the price, and after tommorow, we'll be seeing performance benchmarks, it's gonna be neat.

I will believe any prices when I see them on the shelves at that price. The same goes for any of either companies claims - lets see them on the market and decide at that time - which is the best choice. Mind you I am a chicken and would hate to pay top dollar for the priviledge of being a beta tester. That said if a card came out for $300 (and not to big a ps upgrade price) and was twice the speed of a 9800pro - I might dump my next christmas timeline for upgrading and get one.

First time I've ever seen anyone use two apostrophes, and both improperly. The word you seek is "its". :p

Whitedog - what OS you using? XP maybe? I think that's nearly 3 years old now. :)

Uh, not really. 100% accurate benches could have been released for the NV40 6 months ago, but if the R420 comes out a week or two earlier, people will be buying the R420 provide its benches are nearly as good, on par, or better. Sure, benchmarks influence people, but we'll obviously get to see R420 benchmarks before the product comes out, and if the product comes out before the NV40, then its all about which one performs better or performs better for the $. I'm certainly not going to base my purchase over who gets their benches out first.

You're kidding me right? That's almost as sad as me not using them correctly
