What's wrong with you? You know nothing about cars! You're not qualified to be buying ANYTHING. From now on either learn what you're donig and buy a ferrari, or leave the driving to those who know what they're talking about!"

If you have any reading comprehension skills, I'm sure you realize that I never said anything bad about people spending money on nice audio equipment. I only criticized people for complaining about the way that other people encode their MP3s.

Poor example. Music is a luxury. Cars fall into both luxury and necessity. If you bought a Cav, I would assume you are simply buying within your means. But that Cav owner wouldn't run around calling Ferrari owners weird for indulging. I don't understand the car crowd, so I stay out of their business. Simple enough.

And just to demonstrate my reading comprehesion skills->people who mangle their MP3 files and then share them should be criticized. Nobody wants to hear your 128kbps files that you encoded on your copy of Xing from 1998.

Ironically, file sharing has actually increased my CD buying. If I hear a good song I usually need to buy the album to hear it with any sort of quality.

I don't care.... my PC is not hooked up to $10,000 set of speakers, so 160 or 192 kbps LAME encoded mp3's sound just great to me.

I just use 128kbit MP3s, ripped via Musicmatch. The sound quality is good enough for most songs and the compression is good. Sure, I can rip them into 320kbit instead of 128kbit, but then I can only fit 4 hours of music onto a CD instead of 10. (I have an MP3 CD-player in my car). Offspring in MP3s would probably take up more than one disk. The only problem I've had ripping was from some older IDE CD-ROM and DVD drives I used to use, they added a pop every few seconds. Since I started using good drives (Plex 40max, Pioneer DVD-305S...) I haven't had that problem.

If you're an audiophile, just don't use MP3 format.

I don't. The only MP3 files I have that don't go with a CD on my shelf are ones that I can't get on CD. A CD I recently bought had bonus tracks that only are on the Dutch release. Since I don't live conveniently near Amsterdam, I downloaded them and they are the best 2 tracks on the disc. But they are so poorly encoded that it's hard to listen to them.

--alt-preset standard. damn good sounding but they're a bit larger and take about 2x longer to encode than --r3mix, and frankly i can't tell the difference between the two. but both of them rock 128kbit/s' ass

xvid pwns j00, btw
