in relation to computer parts specifically, are the prices for pc's/pc parts much higher in CDN vs their USD equivalent, harder to find, or both? is the situation similar with anything else?

Optical drives, hard drives and motherboards are usually fairly priced in relation to USA. CPU's, video cards, ram and power supplies are usually exorbitantly priced. Gas is almost twice what you guys pay. Cars are strangely cheaper than what you guys pay.

EDIT: I forgot the most important item: BEER. We pay about $12 for a quality 6pack, upwards of $38 for a 24, though many domestics can be had for between $24-30.

RAM is usually more expensive. Perehererals are usually equally priced.

For example, a 1gb stick of DDR400 costs 200 dollars at Future Shop.

I thought gas was like $1CDN per liter(re), that comes out to like to like $3.24 per gallon, about the same as it is down here.

Yes, but as has already been said here..the Grizzly bear mob likes to seize vehicles and auction off their goods for picnic baskets on ebay.
