Can someone point out to some benchmarks or something regarding the latest Xeon Dempsey 5080 3.73Ghz with 4mb cache. This processor seems very interesting and I'm wondering if it's better buy then Opterons 285s. I'm getting to upgrade my dual proc machine and want the best. I wasn't that impressed with Woodcrest though they seem to be a good choice overall for content creation since they work much faster in single threaded apps then anything offered before, including the fastest optys.

These 5080 seem to be dual core, 4mb of L2 cache. I just can't find any reviews or tests against Opterons. This is a bit strange.

Anyone?

If you're not impressed by Woodcrest, then I doubt you'll be iimpressed by Dempsey or any other processor for that matter.

Well I should expressed myself better. I'm impressed with Woodcrest, I just wasn't impressed with certain performance improvement over Optys 285 in certain things. I was expecting much bigger peformance gap and not only 5-10%.

I think on the Server Platform having FB-DIMM 667 to run the Dual FSB 1.33GHz in sync is more important. We will have to see how the final benches turn out for Woodcrest.
