it's either CoD4 or TF2
in terms of anything up and coming, think it's only Quake Live, but it looks basically like Q3

It was TF2 for me then my laptop started overheating whenever I played so I started playing Halo 3 on my 360 instead.

The simple ones are the best. TF2 would be more awesome if people would play more deathmatches.
BF2142 is great, Low complexity, go kill them..
Halo PC, still AMZING, although hard for n00bs to get into because the hitbox trails way AHEAD the visible sprite.
I'm looking forward to growing up and not playing video games anymore, and perhaps to stop neglecting the girlfriends.

I'm waiting for STALKER: Clear Sky, Left 4 Dead and Fallout 3 if you are looking at 1st person shooters. Playing Team Fortress 2.
I don't like all these slow paced, "realistic" games either, at least not for multiplayer. UT3 was the last major online FPS in the old style and it basically flopped. It's worth getting anyway though because of an outstanding invasion mod available for it, especially if you play with a few friends. The base game is lacking in many ways and hardly anyone plays it online, but I've had a lot of fun with that invasion addon.

i really dislike cod4....
its too easy its made to be a noob fest
you can shoot through thick concrete
and the spawns are stupid
i definetly recommend TF2 over it

they really should have thought the game out a little better when it came to multiplayer..
if you could shoot through thin walls and doors but not the thicker stuff it would have added a lot more strategy to the game..
also the spawning system is terrible ..constantly spawning right next to someone and getting mowed down its silly

this is my main complaint of cod4 multiplayer- the spawning. you think you clear an area and all of a sudden they spawn right close to you and kill you... it's really frustrating and i am starting to give up on it, even though it's fun. i'm thinking of installing an old school fps like q3a or ut again but im wondering if anyone still plays them, and if they do they will probably pwn me bigtime
Depending on which weapon you are using you can shoot through thick concrete, but the damage the bullets do is reduced so much that bullet spam through walls is a terrible strategy. The only game type where the spawn points suck is Free for All, and frankly there isn't much the game designers can do about that. The one complaint I have about COD4 is the nade spam, but if I get fed up with that I can always just switch over to a server with nade spam rules or a modded server that bans explosives entirely. If you haven't tried playing on modded COD4 servers you are missing out.
