so whats the consensus on Seti 3.0 GUI and CL?

(refering to the Windows clients)

1. Are both slower overall on every type of system?

2. Is one of them faster overall? Like we decided GUI 2.70 was faster than GUI 2.04 or CL 2.4. What's the case now? GUI or CL 3.0?

(linux question)

Is 3.0 faster or slower than 2.4 in linux? Also what is the difference between
i386-pc-linux-gnu-gnulibc2.1
i386-pc-linux-gnulibc1-static

Are they just using different libraries? I think I've run both of them so I think my system has all the necessary libraries. Is one of these faster than the other?

Also, has anyone tested an i686 client versus an i386 client and seen a difference?

I have switched to the3.0 cli.
On a k62-350 it has added 2-4hrs per WU
on a p3-500 (kat) it has added 1/2 hr
Nothing else switched over yet----looks like i'll be doing a couple less WU's a day from here on out with this kind of increase in times.🙁

Yeah, I'm too damn fast...
Especially with my Duron 600 running stable at 1081 😀
+33 memory, 2,2,2 and 4 way set...
only bad thing is my bus can't get higher then 103 :disgust:

heheh....
Sorry I had to toss that out after you talking about your 3 hour seti times on your ass hauling Tbird.. 🙂

🙂

it doesn't feel fast anymore... i need to get one of those new 1.2ghz and overclock that one...

get it down to 2 hours per... when the quad boards come out get a three more... and i'll have one computer cranking out 48 workunits a day... wouldn't that be something?

I loaded the 3.0 CLI on my 700@933 and time went from 4.8-5.3 (with the 2.4) down to 3.6-4.2 so I'm quite happy with that. I guess I will leave 2.4 on my 550 katmai though but I'll need to load the 3.0 on my parents 600 coppermine too. 🙂

With my Cel 550 ,Cli v2.4 was doing around 7.7-8.2 hrs/WU ,with Cli v3.0 I got these times.

Mostly faster 🙂

Though with my PII 280 it is mostly slower (confirming what HB said about off die L2 cpu's) ,with CLi v2.4 I used to get around 10.6hrs/WU ,no I get this

Mostly slower ,I'm tempted to switch back to the older client for this PC but that kinda defeats the point of SETI.
I think I'll upgrade it instead 😉
