So what's the big deal about Foobar as a mp3 player?

People like to be different and argue over pointless stuff. Foobar allows them to be "holier" than thou because they use a "superior" mp3 player.

I use Media Monkey. You can turn off skins and the interface is much better than FOobar's. More like iTunes but without the bloat. Also, it uses Winamp plugins. With a playlist of 1606 songs loaded, it's using 30 megs.

What kind of sound card and speakers do you have?

As a sound enthusiast (I'd need lots more money to call myself an audiophile 😛) I enjoy its immense amount of DSP options. As a PC enthusiast, I enjoy its no-frills (unless you want them) interface and the resulting tiny memory footprint, and the fact it's entirely customizable. It's a no-brainer for me.

Reasons I use Foobar:
-playlist tabs and customizable playlist sorting
-loads faster than Winamp 5 and uses less ram & swap
-kernel streaming (can mute wav to get rid of other windows/program noises)
