I'm just curious why so many people love the metal gear solid franchise, I'm not trying to flamebait, but I would just like to know what all the fuss is about. I played mgs3 on ps2 like 6 years ago, it was just basically avoiding the guards and killing them without making the alarm go off or something..

Yeah anyway so if your a fan tell me why, the reason I'm asking is because I just saw the mgs4 clip from TGS and it looks pretty cool.

A James Bond-esque cast of villains. Fun/Challenging/Rewarding gameplay. Great story in the original game.

it should be in the games forum...

anyway, the 1st mgs game for the playstation was really fun and was pretty unique at the time. all the games after that didn't really do much for me. same old crap over and over.

I played (and finished) MGS and MGS2. Didn't like either. I agree that the first one for PSX was unique, but it felt like something that *could* have been really cool, but didn't quite make there.

Gameplay-wise, it's long since been surpassed by the Splinter Cell series, among others.

There is a certain epic storytelling in Metal Gear that's hard not to be attracted by, though.
