or.... are there anyone out there still have peripharels that require a parallel or serial port?

I used to have an external serial modem and a serial trackball, but they are collecting dust somewhere in my ignored part bin.

I use parallel on the laser printer since my router has a parallel print server. But my PC has no parallel or serial devices :)

I used to have a serial WinCE PDA. Wow...transferring on an MP3 took tens of minutes! Cool thing I sold it and now I have a PDA with a USB connection :)

<--Doesn't use serial or parallel ports on the PC any longer :)

I have my laser printer hooked up to the parallel port. Don't have anything hooked up to the serial port.

I see a trend here...

My serial ports are disabled.

My HP LaserJet 6L is plugged into my parallel port.

My next laserjet will have a USB port, I swear. :)

nudda, only have one of my systems using its parallel port for a networked printer.

Next printer I buy will be USB :) Only use I may ever make -of a serial port- is if I descide to finally suck it up and buy Cisco router from work, or a UPS.

They are disabled. No sense in occupying an address for them when they will never be used.

My Kodak DC3200 uses a serial port to transfer pictures. I'm about ready to sell it and get something better - I bought a CX6200 for my sister, and that thing uses USB - maybe 3 seconds per picture? The DC3200 takes a minute and a half each, and the pictures are ~75% the size of the CX6200's!
Other than that, I think I'm mostly legacy free. My trusty Acer keyboard, $6.95 at a computer show a few years ago, is still working fine, thanks to a complete internal cleaning - it's in the PS/2 port. Everything else is USB - mouse, scanner, Thrustmaster Tacticalboard, USB thumbdrive, and external hard drive.

I'm using a external serial modem. Never once had any problems with the modem. I would get highspeed if it was available here. :(

on the 5 PC's in our house 2 still use a serial port and 1 a parallel, the parallel is used on my bro's PC to hook up an old printer, one of the serial ports is used on my dad's PC for the chipcard reader (so we can do banktransfers etc on line) and on my PC I use it for my IR receiver (home made)

printer on parallel, dead or dying palm V cradle on serial. I won't miss either once this printer goes, but I like having dedicated mouse and keyboard ports
