Anyone who uses a check card or just plain uses cash isn't very bright.

Well check cards are slightly better than straight up cash, but still....if you have enough income to use your check card, why not just use a CC? You get plenty of fraud protection, extra benefits, bonus rewards, and most importantly you can build credit (if you're a wise CC user of course)

If I can use CC, I will...even for a $5 McD's meal.

At one time I carried almost no cash (use a credit card for everything possible....NEVER use a debit card), but I had an embarassing incident when I went out to dinner with some guys and the host insisted on putting everything on his card. And I didn't have the cash to pay him my share. So I had to go out to an atm to get his money. Now I try to carry at least $100. There are just too many possible scenarios where cash is NEEDED. Yard sales. Bribes. Power goes out across city. Etc.

How is that embarassing? Sorry, I have no cash, I'll get you later or put half on my card and half on yours...end of story

We routinely go out and put things on 5 or 6 cards

Dunno bout you but I'd think it's very embarrassing...

That's very embarrassing.

BTW, if you're ever wondering where your server is, s/he's in back splitting some table full of a-holes' check 5 or 6 different ways.

I love cash for all sorts of reasons. Natural disasters, city-wide power failures, and other emergencies are just the beginning.

Amongst good friends its not. Thats a you pay this time, I'll pay next time kind of thing. However, when the host is an aquaintance, friend of a friend, colleague, etc, it definitely is embarassing. And he wanted to put his it all on his card to build up 'rewards' points at that particular place. Asking them to divide the bill so that I could put my share on my card would have been even more awkward.
