nothing.

I was pretty explicit that:

a) I don't want anything.
b) I'm not planning on getting him anything.
c) and if he really wants to commemorate the holidays in some way, let's go out to a fancy, upscale dinner, split the cost, and that can be our gift to each other.

How will you feel when he gets you something pretty special?

annoyed?

but fuck, what's the point of dating a Jewish guy if I'm still forced to celebrate Christmas? ;)

the whole orgy of commercialization around Christmas really bothers the hell out of me. I only buy gifts for my family because I don't want to deal with the year-long drama just to avoid hypocrisy.

Do you do the same for birthdays?

The thing with a dinner is if it sucks you can't return it and you're not going to remember it 10 days later.

birthdays are your day :) I see nothing wrong with buying birthday presents.

personally, I don't really care about my own birthday... a "happy birthday!" is probably required and taking me out for dinner/drinks or picking up a small present is always nice.

but if Christmas is supposed to be Jesus' birthday, what does that have to do with my parents buying me presents? shouldn't the presents go to Jesus? and he's dead, so fuck it all.

YAABT?

(yet another alkemyst brag thread?)

It's only like $1100, hardly a brag thread. I was going to buy her an Ipad2, but will wait for the 3 to be released.

just sharing stuff son.

I take it Christmas is sucking for you this year.

Wings tickets and our vacation to NOLA. I told her not to get me anything, because I'm certainly not getting anything else.
